Airshow Safety

PREPARED EVENTS. COORDINATED TEAMS. SAFER OUTCOMES.

An airshow is more than an aviation event. It is a temporary, high-attendance operating environment that brings together flight operations, emergency services, security, vendors, media, volunteers and the public. Aviation Turf helps organizers connect those moving parts before gates open and gives leaders a workable structure for managing the event when conditions change.

Airshow safety Services

Safety and preparedness assessment. Review the event concept, venue, operating environment, attendance profile, public safety capabilities, critical dependencies and foreseeable risks.

Incident Command System and Unified Command planning. Develop an event command structure that clearly identifies authority, roles, agency coordination, reporting relationships and decision paths.

Incident Action Plan development. Prepare a scalable IAP using recognized ICS principles, including objectives, assignments, communications, medical operations, safety considerations, maps and resource information.

Emergency operations planning. Build or refine procedures for aircraft incidents, severe weather, fire, medical surges, missing persons, active threats, evacuations, sheltering, reunification and continuity of operations.

Tabletop exercises and readiness workshops. Facilitate scenario-based discussions that test assumptions, expose gaps and help aviation, public safety and event personnel understand how they will work together.

Public safety and resource coordination. Evaluate police, fire, EMS, emergency management, dispatch, traffic, perimeter, mutual aid and resource requirements.

Communications planning. Align operational radio channels, contact lists, notification processes, command post communications and information sharing procedures.

Crowd, traffic and access planning. Review ingress, egress, parking, pedestrian flow, restricted areas, credentialing, emergency lanes and responder access.

Media and crisis communications. Establish coordinated messaging, approval procedures, spokesperson roles, media staging and rapid public information practices.

On-site advisory support and after action review. Provide experienced support during planning or event operations and document lessons, corrective actions and priorities for the next show.

Who We Support

Airshow organizers, airport sponsors, municipalities, military and civilian event partners, public safety departments and venue operators.

The Value

  • A single operating picture across aviation, event and public safety teams
  • Clear authority, communications and decision-making before an emergency
  • Practical plans designed for field use rather than shelf storage
  • Improved readiness, accountability and post event learning

How Engagements Work

Engagements can range from a targeted plan review or tabletop exercise to full planning support, on-site advisory services and a post event improvement program. Scope is based on event size, venue complexity, participating agencies and existing plans.
