Aviation Turf began with a question from founder Pat Carr: how could artificial turf be adapted to meet aviation’s demanding requirements? His answer led to several industry firsts, including the first airport installation of aviation artificial turf and its use as a runway, helipad and parachute landing area.
That innovation revealed a broader opportunity. Successful aviation projects require infrastructure, operations, safety and public needs to work together. This became the foundation for Aviation Turf’s expanded mission.
Pat brings more than 40 years of aviation experience, including service in the United States Air Force, Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve. His background includes military air demonstration teams, airshows, military flyovers, aviation facilities and public-use heliports.
As a longtime municipal executive, Pat has also led major infrastructure projects, emergency operations, economic development initiatives and regional public safety partnerships. His experience includes incident command, disaster response, crisis communications, large-event planning, media coordination and multi-agency operations.

Brian Allendorfer serves as President of The Air Show Consultants, leading the planning, coordination, and execution of airshows, military flyovers, and aviation special events.
Brian began his aviation career in 1982 with the U.S. Air Force and Illinois Air National Guard, serving as a KC-135 Crew Chief and later as a Boom Operator with the 126th Air Refueling Wing. His military service included Operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Allied Force, and Enduring Freedom before retiring as a Master Sergeant in 2003.
His airshow career grew from the Chicago Air & Water Show, where he became a key liaison to military demonstration teams and coordinated aircraft, performers, government agencies, logistics, and operational requirements. His experience has since included airshows in Chicago, Milwaukee, Gary, and Rockford, along with military flyovers for major sporting and special events.
Brian and Pat Carr have worked together in aviation and major event operations for more than 35 years, building a partnership based on trust, relationships, preparation and safety.
At The Air Show Consultants, Brian is responsible for bringing the whole show together from concept and performer coordination to execution and final aircraft departure.
Caroline Carr serves as an Intern with Aviation Turf, supporting the company’s event management, logistics, vendor management, and government affairs initiatives.
Having grown up around the airshow and aviation industry, Caroline brings a unique combination of firsthand aviation event experience and a strong academic background in finance and economics. Most recently, she assisted with the coordination and onsite support of a U.S. Army helicopter flyover at the Presidents Cup Golf Tournament at Medinah Country Club.
Caroline has also worked directly in airshow operations, assisting with event planning, vendor coordination, hospitality, credentials, schedules, and onsite logistics. Her experience has given her an early understanding of the detailed planning, communication, and teamwork required to successfully execute complex aviation and special events.
Caroline is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Finance with a minor in Economics at Illinois Wesleyan University, where she is also a member of the women’s golf team. She has earned Dean’s List recognition each semester.
